Mass Murderer Psychology – The Patterns of Horror
My first reaction on learning about the Realengo school shootings in Rio de Janeiro was to feel tremendous, almost physical pain at trying to imagine what could possess a man to shoot little children at random. After writing about how I felt and the implications of the event, I came across the murderer's letter on Twitter. There was something incongruous in finding these words written in the familiar language of my Brazilian neighbors. In South America, we are all unfortunately used to these things happening in lands far away, but reading the familiar diatribe of a resentful mass murderer made me realize that these things could happen close to home as well, and also, that there were some very distinct similarities between the words in this letter and those of other perpetrators of similar crimes.

Social Network Addiction – A Scientific No Man’s Land?
The last decade witnessed an explosion of social networks such as Myspace and Facebook, which added a new social dimension to the web.While such networks have made people, communities and groups with shared interests stay more "connected," Internet addiction and social network addiction in particular also started being recognized as psychological disorders all over the world. While several 90's studies focused on Internet addiction, the next decade saw the growth of a new addiction related to all manner of social networking sites, especially the current king of the jungle: Facebook.
Is the Future Bisexual?
Last week, I heard a girl on the radio, who was talking about how she would have no problem doing a threesome with another girl, if her boyfriend desired it. The girl's carefree attitude, revealing to hundreds of thousands of strangers that she was open to a bisexual experience reminded me of a certain 2005 study from the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics I had recently come across, which showed an increased percentage of girls who had had a homosexual experience compared to a similar study from 10 years earlier.
