Herpes simplex permanently infects the DNA of nerve cells, and once contracted, will periodically re-emerge during times of stress to cause further nerve damage during each outbreak.Indeed, the fundamental similarity between the Herpes simplex retrovirus and other cancer-causing retroviruses strongly suggests that the Herpes simplex retrovirus is _also_ likely to trigger cancer. (There is also evidence that Herpes simplex HSV-1 infections may be a risk factor for contracting Alzheimer's Disease.) No “form” of the Herpes simplex retrovirus can “cure” cancer.
